I stopped drinking alcohol — here's what happened after 75 days
7th of June, 2026 was the last time I drank.
I stopped for many reasons — my hangovers were shocking (and lasting days), I started a new job that requires actual brain power to do well, and the fact that I spent the last 3 years living in London and travelling through Europe (and drinking a lot along the way). I knew it was time.
Since stopping I've noticed a lot. My mood and health have been better, my sleep has been better, my relationship with the gym and running has gotten stronger, my performance at work has increased, and my spending habits have improved. I've even been able to spend more quality time with friends and family. Basically, my life has improved in every aspect.
It's also amazing to see who your friends are and who your drinking buddies are. Remember, you are the culmination of your 5 closest mates.
At work, someone recently quit and it was put on my shoulders to learn his role in about 2 weeks — a very short time frame to learn everything, on top of my existing role. Being able to show up every day with no hangovers, feeling good and mentally sharp, enabled me to pick up everything they were teaching me. There's no way that would have been possible if I was spending my weekends drinking.
This isn't me saying you NEED to stop drinking. Alcohol serves a purpose and can be beneficial (especially when solo travelling like I did), but not touching it and just being ridiculously locked in on my goals and dreams has worked for me.
If this sounds like you, or something you want to do, you can join me (and others) who want to live a similar lifestyle. It's exactly what the habiter. community is all about, and you can join for free.
I'll see you on the inside.
