What we collect
Here's exactly what habiter. collects, and why:
We do not collect payment information (habiter. is free), location data, contacts, photos, or anything from your device beyond what's listed above.
Where your data lives
Your goals, habits, routines, and daily progress are stored locally on your device only. We don't operate a server that stores this content, and we can't see it. If you delete the app or lose your device, this data is not recoverable by us, because we never had a copy of it in the first place.
Separately, anonymized usage activity (like which features get used, and how often habits get completed) is sent to a third-party analytics service (PostHog) so we can understand overall patterns and improve the app. This is tied to an anonymous device identifier, not your name, unless you've provided your email during onboarding — in which case some basic profile details (age, gender, goal category) may be associated with that identifier to help us understand our users better.
Email & the community
If you opt in during onboarding, your email is added to our mailing list (managed by EmailOctopus) so we can send you occasional tips, updates, and habit-building advice. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send.
If you choose to join our WhatsApp community, that happens entirely within WhatsApp itself — we don't control or have access to WhatsApp's own data practices, and anything you share there is subject to WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not this one.
AI-powered features
Some features (like personalized goal insights) send relevant goal information to Anthropic's Claude API to generate helpful suggestions. This data is used solely to generate your response and is handled according to Anthropic's own data usage policies for API customers.
Third parties we use
- PostHog — product analytics (understanding app usage)
- EmailOctopus — email newsletter delivery, for users who opt in
- Anthropic — powers optional AI goal-insight features
- Apple — app distribution and, if enabled, push notifications
Each of these providers only receives the specific data needed for their function, and none of them are permitted to sell your data.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from emails any time via the link in any email we send
- Delete your local data any time via Settings → Sign out / restart in the app, or by deleting the app entirely
- Turn off notifications any time in Settings
- Request info or deletion of anything we hold about you (like your email or analytics profile) by emailing hello@habiterapp.com
Children's privacy
habiter. is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and revise the "last updated" date above. We encourage checking back periodically.
